Develop talent holistically
Use football, athletics and other sports to identify and groom aspiring talent while strengthening discipline and life skills.
About GMST
GMST is a Botswana sports-development trust focused on creating opportunities for young people through sport, education, mentorship and community support.
Our purpose
The Trust was established to create platforms and pathways for young people, helping them develop sporting skills while strengthening confidence, discipline and opportunity.
Its approach combines sport with education and support structures around the child.
Use football, athletics and other sports to identify and groom aspiring talent while strengthening discipline and life skills.
Expand sporting opportunity and ambition among young people, especially those from underserved communities.
Build platforms through which young people can develop sporting skills and access opportunities that improve their lives.
The founder story
Glenda describes sport as being at the centre of her journey from primary school through tertiary education.
Her sporting life included football, athletics, netball and volleyball. She became one of the founders of women’s football in Botswana and later served as chairperson of women’s football.
When early women’s football lacked trained referees, she attended a referees’ course and began officiating men’s Super League matches. Despite criticism and abuse from spectators, she persisted and eventually became a FIFA referee.
Her own account credits family, mentors, discipline, regular training and determination for keeping her progression on course. GMST carries that principle forward: support can turn potential into achievement.
“Where determination meets support, success is inevitable.”
— Sebaetseng Glenda Mokokwe
The philosophy
Young athletes develop best when coaches, parents, schools, communities and mentors reinforce one another.

Use coaches, mentors, parents and schools as part of the development environment.
Build skills progressively instead of treating participation as a once-off activity.
Strengthen the network around young people so sporting progress can be sustained.
